What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable, biodegradable gels that can add volume to your face. Wings Wellness Clinic uses leading dermal fillers, including Juvéderm®and Restylane® to soften lines and wrinkles, smooth scars and skin depressions, and enhance your facial contours based on your needs and wishes.

Dermal fillers in the Juvéderm and Restylane lines all have hyaluronic acid; an ingredient formulated to match a natural substance your body makes on its own. Both Juvéderm and Restylane make a variety of formulas, each ideal for a specific purpose.

What do dermal fillers do?

• Dermal fillers have many purposes, including:
• Volumizing cheeks and enhancing cheekbones
• Filling smile lines (nasolabial folds)
• Filling in acne scars or other skin depressions
• Boosting lip volume or defining lip shape
• Minimizing hollows under your eyes

Dermal fillers like Juvéderm and Restylane can improve any area where you need volume. If you have lines between your eyebrows, in your forehead, or at the corners of your eyes, another type of injectable (Botox® or Dysport® ) is typically the right treatment.  Those injectables minimize muscle contractions that cause wrinkles at the top of your face.

What is dermal filler treatment like?

Your Wings Wellness Clinic specialist may apply topical numbing cream before your dermal filler treatment. Most types of Juvéderm and Restylane include an anesthetic, so it also numbs as your specialist performs the injections. The exact injection technique depends on the end goals and the area, but generally, injections are quick. Your specialist may perform a gentle massage to distribute the filler in an ideal way.

You’ll see the change immediately, although some swelling is common right after your dermal filler treatment. Usually, one treatment session is all you need to get the results you want with dermal filler. The exact amount of Juvéderm or Restylane required depends on the treatment area and how much volume you want. Many patients need around one to three syringes of product for total correction.

How long do Juvéderm and Restylane last?

Results are variable, depending on the area. Generally, Juvéderm and Restylane last longest in the less movable areas, like your cheeks, and fade away faster in the lips because they move so much. In general, Juvéderm and Restylane can last at least six months, and possibly from 12-24 months.
